The Colored Stone Co. Jewelry Buying Guide

The prospect of buying jewelry can sometimes be an overwhelming process, but we are here to guide you every step of the way. The following, is a comprehensive guide on how to buy jewelry with The Colored Stone Co.

Before moving onto the first step, it is important to note that all gemstones don’t suit all designs of jewelry. Certain designs would require a particular shape of gemstone and vice versa. Our jewelry design descriptions mention the ideal shape of the gemstone that would go well with the particular design.

  1. Select Jewelry Type – Under the Shop tab, select what type of jewelry you want to buy. This may be a ring, pendant, earring etc.
  1. Select Design/Style – Select the design/style you want and click on add to cart. The Colored Stone Co. updates the site with new collections every 3-4 months. Our collections are available on our site for a limited time only!
  1. Select Alloy & Alloy Purity – We provide our customers with the following choices of alloys:
A) Sterling Silver 825 – Sterling silver consists of 82.5% pure silver and 17.5% zinc or copper. 100% pure silver can not be used due to the soft nature of silver. Pure Silver on its own is a malleable metal which scratches easily, bends easily and cannot withstand everyday use. You may choose this option if you have a tight budget or if you just prefer Silver over other alloys. The choice is up to you!
B) 14k Yellow/White/Rose Gold – Yellow Gold refers to the traditional color of gold. White Gold & Rose Gold is made by mixing regular gold with a combination of other metals. 14k refers to the purity of the gold. 14k gold is approximately 58% gold and the remaining 42% will be a combination of other alloys such as zinc, copper, nickel etc. Pure Gold on its own is a malleable metal which scratches easily, bends easily and cannot withstand everyday use. You may choose the 14k option if you have a tight budget. The choice is up to you!
C) 18k Yellow/White/Rose Gold – Yellow Gold refers to the traditional color of gold. White Gold & Rose Gold is made by mixing regular gold with a combination of other metals. 18k refers to the purity of the gold. 18k gold is approximately 75% gold and the remaining 25% will be a combination of other alloys such as zinc, copper, nickel etc. Pure Gold on its own is a malleable metal which scratches easily, bends easily and cannot withstand everyday use. 18K gold is the most recommended alloy for fine jewelry in general, we highly recommend this too. However, the choice is up to you!

The choice between Yellow, White or Rose Gold solely depends on your personal preference. The price may vary when selecting between the 3 options.
